Learning to fight I came across this article about about a girl who’s dad taught here to fight and the outcome of that. You can read it here – How To Fight.

It got me to thinking about how I would be with my kids when they get to the age where they could potentially get into fights. My thoughts where always that they should not get in a fight at any expense but then after reading the article my opinion changed.

When I was growing up my mom gave me this advise – don’t ever throw the first punch but if someone hits you – you hit them back. I actually took that advise a few times.

My Fight Story

The one time was in 5th grade when I went to a new school and the class bully did the “meet me after school” thing. I did meet him after school and did not win but I did not get my butt kicked either. I was really scared because the school told me that I had to bring my mom with me when I came back to school the next morning.

I went home that night really scared that I was going to get suspended and also get in trouble with my mom. When I told my mom what happened she asked me one question – did you throw the first punch? I said no and she told me I had nothing to worry about. I told here that I was scared that I would get suspended and she said that was ok and that I would still not get in trouble.

Anyway, the read the story and come to your own conclusion.
